I worked 302's as a Guard and a Depot Driver. They were awful really. I am glad I didn't have to deal with them at any speed.
They had one brake cylinder per carrage. having clasp brakes they had no WSP and could be a nightmare to stop cleanly. From what I remember most of them were falling to pieces as well!
Next time you drive through Purfleet or Dagenham Dock, watch out for some mad swine with long hair & a beard wearing an old brown leather jacket & a baseball cap. He might take your photo.

I found this in my collection and felt it should be on here. Goodness knows why I lost it, but the memory is there and February 1972 according to the back of the photo. Class 312 796 approaching Dagenham Dock.
