EMU's

Below is class 302 998 that at one time ran on this line and back in the 1960's, but in a dark blue livery. This one pictured, was on a crew training run from Cambridge to Kings Lynn in the 1990's, where it just so happened, I was working and happened to take my camera to work each day, just in case of anything unusual.

I recently read of compliments about these and HOPEFULLY, I will be visiting the area later this month, when I will ride on them again.

LTS EMUS - Regular

From my recollections, these have been as follows, and invariably 4-car units:

From electrification - AM2s and AM8/2s, latterly known as 302 and 308/2; the latter were unusual in that their motor vehicle was a MPV (Motor Parcels Van).

From circa 1972 - 4 of the 308/2s (units 313 to 316) became 308/4s, wherein their MPVs were converted to MSOs (Motor Second Opens), which were themselves unusual in having doors to every second seating bay, not unlike the 310s/312s of latter years.

Then a short period when some 305s (AM5s) and other types of 308, formerly from the Liverpool St. lines, worked alongside some of the remaining 302s.

Then I believe we had mixed fleets, involving various combinations of classes 317, 310, and 312, before replacement by the present fleet of 357s, and indeed the recent standing-in of a pair of 321s.

Of course, that excludeds the Romford - Upminster section, which - after electification - was originally a 315, but in latter years has been a 321, and even a 322 for a while.
