East Ham

Since I moved away from Essex and the LT&SR, the Electric depot at East Ham has seen considerable storage of EMU's. This was built as far as I recall, not long before I moved. Some years ago, a Society was formed for LT&SR Enthusiasts (I was elected their 1st Chairman), but we never got to have a look at this depot and so far, even to this day, it has eluded me. I would genuinely LOVE to visit the depot, then have a Cab Ride, in both directions, on both routes to Southend/Shoeburyness.

I know there are dvd's/video's of the line from the cab on both routes and at an extortionate prices, but the actual thing is SO much better. I have done the cab ride from Kings Lynn to Liverpool Street and back, plus Cambridge to Kings Cross and back as part of my 'Route Learning' with NSE & WAGN, but oh to do the LT&SR!

Another reason I would like to visit East Ham is because they have certain 'trains' stored (hidden) in there and out of the public eye, from what I understand. IF I got to visit there, I would NOT divulge what I see if asked.

Only the "Blue Pullman" and it's loco's. There is always an ex Virgin 86 there (it's mainline ticket expired, and it's used to power the carrages.) On and off there are 2 47's, a 31 and a 73. None of it is a secret though!

Last year we had another train stabled there for a short while, can't remember what it was called now though.

Thank you for this information. I was obviously misinformed by an 'outsider' to this forum.

As an update to this, EH now hosts the Silverlink 321's we use and the last 150 to arrive at Barking in the evening.

East Ham is getting to be an interesting place!
