They are coming.... well 2 of them anyway!
Silverlink ones at that!

Only be around for a couple of months but will be in service from Monday 10th Dec in the peak.

Thank you TheMan and welcome to the site. Also all info and pictures welcome here. Pity I live too far away to get down there on the quick to see them arriving.
TheMan

I'd guess they will be out and about next week for driver training? Thats providing they have arrived? Anyone seen them yet?

I know that they didn't pass through Dagenham Dock between 1315 & 1435, though 60096 departed with a Sand train from Dagenham Riverside

Have found a couple of photos of 321408 & 418 passing through Stratford, heading for Shoeburyness.

They are at Shoeburyness. Only DI's are learning them though.

I intend visiting the area again in the near future, but this time travelling by train and so using the C2C. YES I Will be using my camera and regardless of the Moron and him hiding up. I will look out for the 321's as I worked these between Cambridge and Liverpool Street as a Guard when they were first put in service. I do hope they get rid of that horrible other livery as well.

Shocked Yuck, Dust Bins on the c2c Confused. I can't think of anything worse... Rolling Eyes

I was told yesterday that they may be with us longer than expected. So all drivers may be trained on them.

They won't be repainted AFAIK. They will probably only run during the rush hour, and always as an 8 car.
TheMan

From my reliable source.... they will be sticking to the same train every day, a minimal milage one.
Can't rememebr all the timings but 0608 from East Ham to Fen St was the first one, then Fen St to Stanford-le-Hope, back to Fen St and into East Ham arriving at 0830.
The afternoon run was East Ham to Fen St, 1800(ish)Fen St to Stanford-le-Hope then empty back to East Ham.
So not going to be seen on the main line at all and hardly any photo opportunities!

The units aren't going to be swapped in the 8 to 12 weeks they are needed, therefore the milage has to be kept to a minimum to avoid them needing to go back for an exam.

According to the January issue of Railway Magazine, the reason for the class 321's being transferred is because 2 x class 357's are away for repair following a collision between the two units at East Ham Depot. The Class 321's are to be used as little as possible to prevent an exam having to be carried out on them too soon due to milage.

Pictured below is a Class 321 at Cambridge with NSE livery. I had just worked it back as a Guard from Liverpool Street, soon after they came into service.

The exact timings I've been given, commencing Monday 11th Dec are as follows:

0608 East Ham to Fen St (empty)
0633 Fen St to Stanford le Hope
0727 Stanford le Hope to Fen St
0824 Fen St to East Ham (empty)
1748 East Ham to Fen St (empty)
1812 Fen St to Pitsea
1915 Pitsea to East Ham (empty)

My source has never let me down before so I'd say this is 90% likely to be true... just don't hold me responsible if it's wrong!

In all the times I've been to Essex and the LT&S area, it is ages since I went to Stanford-Le-Hope, so I MUST get down there again soon and ride to Southend and return via Grays & Upminster route for a change. In fact it is so long since I went Grays - Upminster line, I think the last time I did, they had steam on there.
TheMan

These now work a slightly different diagram due to c2c changing its timetable.
The morning is pretty much the same although it runs to and from Pitsea instead of Stanford le Hope. Normally in Fenchurch St about 0845.

In the evening it does an extra run to Laindon, the 1648 from Fenchurch St then back to London for the 1811 departure to Pitsea.
Anyone have the times for the morning trains?

Units are reportedly changed. The new units are 429 + 432

IF all goes well, I will get to travel on one or both of them, but either way on the line late next week as I plan to come down that way for a few days.
Tepic

I have been told that the company is looking at getting more to improve the Tilbury service.

For some months now, some 'Silverlink' Class 321's have been substituting class 357's on the C2C for units that have been withdrawn for varying reasons. One of them and being 321 416 was actually seen working the Upminster to Romford line on 23 May 2007.
SteveB

321416 is one of the two currently on hire to "one" working between Gidea Park & Liverpool Street (not sure of the other number). The 2 currently on the LTS section are 321429 & 321432. Since the timetable change, these two do not appear to be working (at least) the evening part of the diagram.

Thank you Steve and apologies for my error on this matter.

321432 on the London End

321429 on the Country End
