Don't know if it is still available as a back number but there is a detailed article running to 10 pages in "British Railways Illustrated" Vol14 No4
from Irwell press. Try www.irwellpress.co.uk. It is all about the floods of February 1953. The piece includes some very interesting photos - my favourite is of B17 61666 "Nottingham Forest" running round its train at Fenchurch Street. _________________ Dave Otridge
I tried the link and got told 'cannot find server' for some silly reason. I can't even access my E-mails tonight.
Re the '53 floods, I believe it was the Daily Mirror that carried a photo of a train in Benfleet station during the flooding. (That was the only paper my parents had and for a cartoon character in it.) If memory serves me right, it too was a 2-6-4T.
