I haven't as yet seen one apart from pictures, so are they comfortable? I refuse to pay the current fee to go on the Pier as you would see on Basildon Echo's website Forum and the thread about the charges.

Comfortable? Only if you think sitting on a plastic seat with no cushioning and being thrown from side to side as the train goes along the track is comfortable. Rolling Eyes

I agree, the charges are ridicously high, infact it still costs you money to walk down the pier never mind take the train. I can understand why prices are high, but they don't relise that by make the price higher they are putting off pertentual costomers from going on the pier at all. I mean I don't blame the passengers for not going on the pier;
- If you walk down it will cost you (I believe) £2.40, but it does entitle you to take the train back.
- If you take the train, you will have to pay (I believe) £3.50 and sit on a plastic bench and be thrown all over the place on route (I don't mean literally), only benifit is the carriages are warm.
- Once you get to the end there is nothing there (this is because everything was burnt during the fire (Only things you can do at the end of the pier currently is to go to the loo, or visit the Lifeboat shop (if it's open).
- There is no shelter from the elements on the pier except for the little shelters with seats every 1/4 of a mile or so.
- They only ever run one train now, as even in Summer time you might be the only one in one of the carriages.
