It was announced today, that Freddie Garrity of the 1960's group 'Freddie & The Dreamers' sadly passed away with emphysema in a North Wales Hospital. Freddie 69, and his wife Christine, were on holiday in the area and she was at his bedside when he sadly passed, having reported to have been joking to the end.
I saw this group actually in North Wales and got pictures of them taken during the Colwyn Bay carnival, when they were in the procession. Freddie & The Dreamers had a total of 9 hits with the highest one being I'm Telling You Now getting to number 2 spot in August 1963 and the lowest postion in the charts being Thou Shalt Not Steal which only got to number 44 in November 1965.
Before taking up pop singing, Freddie was a Milkman and it has been said that his eyesight was so bad, he joked about his glasses being the same thickness as the bottom of milk bottles.
Freddie has now joined a few more of the greats from the 60's and so no longer suffering, but I would just like to say Thank You Freddie for the great entertainment you gave us all.
