Bosses at c2c say they have learnt from their mistakes as they release yet another new timetable this week. Small changes include a new late peak train departing Laindon at 9.30am and an extra evening peak train at 4.30pm from Fenchurch Street to Laindon, calling at all stations.

There will also be a new train from Fenchurch Street to Laindon at 7.32pm and two new late evening shuttle services between Liverpool Street and Barking. All other c2c services in the late evening will run from Fenchurch Street. Introducing the changes, Managing Director Mark Hopwood said lessons had been learnt from the disastrous December 2006 timetable changes.

He said: "The new trains for Laindon in the early and late evening, and the extra evening peak stop at West Ham, will make life easier for customers, as will the extra late evening departures from Fenchurch Street. The positive changes reflect our determination to monitor constantly the service we offer to our customers, to listen to what customers tell us about the timetable and to take any opportunity that arises to meet their aspirations. At the same time we will carry on working hard to ensure our customers continue to receive the punctual and reliable service to which they are entitled and which they now enjoy."
