I found this on another forum and rather confused considering I hardly go there these days, but never have this problem.

"Only having alighted at Fenchchurch station twice. I get confused on the way out. Maybe, it sounds crazy for my railway experience, but the first time I discovered I was walking towards Tower Hill within minutes. The second time, I just followed everyone - used escalators and seemed to walk ages before arriving at Tower Hill tube station.

Where did I go wrong?"

Everytime I have been there, I have seen ample signs.

You'd be surprised how many people make the same mistake. I will be asked at least once a day how to get to Tower Hill.

Difference is the exits if you go down the stairs on the platform you have to walk all the way to Tower Hill, but if you go out the front(?) of the station you come out where the entrance to the underground station is

Wrong way round. If you use the stairs in the middle of the platforms, as you exit the station (under the bridge), you turn left & you can almost see the exit to Tower Hill, whereas if you go out the main entrance, you have to go down the stairs (beside the "Yeoman of London" pub (happy memories)) to the end of the road (by Boots), left again and follow to the end of the road, underneath the Railway & almost directly opposite the "Crosswall" entrance.

Ah, so it's not the front, which is what I thought (that why I put a question mark).

There is stairs (and escalators) directly after the barrers when exiting by going towards the front of the station, aren't there? If you go down them you come out where the entrance to Tower Hill Tube station is.

No. If you go down the escalators you will come out of the "main" entrance, which will take you into a big forecourt. If you turn right out of this entrance (either side if HSBC) you will go onto Fenchurch Street itself (the "East India" (it think it is called) is then to the right).

I have some pictures of Fenchurch Street taken back in the early 1900's somewhere, but due to a trapped nerve in my back, I can't look for them at present. I also have some history of it, so directly I find these items, I will place them on here.
